Healing Acres Ranch is committed to enhancing the lives of our participants and partner horses, as well as the dedicated staff and volunteers who generously contribute their time and efforts to our mission. We’ve only owned the facility for a few years, and it was in disrepair at the time of purchase, requiring extensive cleaning and repairs. Our team of volunteers and staff continually works to update and improve the facility; however, some projects are currently on hold due to financial constraints.
Below is a list of projects that, with your donations, we can accomplish over the next year!
Re-wiring the barn
With time, everything wears out. There are a few places where the barn will need to be rewired. Such places are the observation/staff tack room, wiring going to the observation/staff tack room.
Insulating the tack rooms, arena, and barn
To provide a comfortable environment year-round, we want to invest in insulation for the tack rooms, arena, and barn. This upgrade ensures that both riders and horses can enjoy a warm, cozy space even during the coldest months, enhancing the overall experience for everyone involved. Whether you’re tacking up or cooling down after a ride, you can count on comfort no matter the weather.
Digging Out, Leveling, and Sanding the Outdoor Arena
Our large outdoor arena has been out of commission due to years of wear and disrepair, but we’re excited to bring it back to life. By digging out the old surface, leveling the ground, and applying a fresh layer of sand, we’ll restore this valuable space. Once completed, the outdoor arena will provide a safe and spacious environment for riding and events, allowing us to fully utilize our facility.
Installing New Fencing Around the Facility
When we purchased this facility, it came with many areas in need of attention, including the fencing. We’re committed to revitalizing the property, and need to install new, secure fencing for the horses. This will not only enhance safety for our horses and riders but also give the property a polished and well-maintained appearance. The new fencing is part of our larger effort to restore and improve the grounds, creating a welcoming and functional space for everyone.
Cementing and Laying Rock in Front of and Behind the Barn
As part of our effort to improve the facility, we’re addressing the high-traffic areas around the barn. By cementing and laying rock in front of and behind the barn, we’ll create a more durable and mud-free surface that stands up to daily use and harsh weather conditions. This upgrade will make it safer and more accessible for horses, riders, and equipment year-round.
Creating a New Parking Area
To accommodate our growing community and improve convenience, we need to develop a new parking area. This dedicated space will offer easier access for visitors, trailers, and staff, ensuring that everyone has a safe and organized place to park. By designating a specific parking zone, we’ll enhance the flow of traffic on the property and provide a more welcoming, user-friendly experience for all who visit our facility.
Installing a Bathroom in the Barn
Currently, there is no bathroom in the barn, so guests must use a port-a-potty. Convenience and comfort are key to creating a welcoming facility, so to improve amenities for our guests and staff, we need to install a bathroom directly in the barn. This addition will provide easy access to modern facilities without having to leave the barn area.
Installing a Wash Rack Area in the Barn
Keeping horses clean and comfortable is an essential part of their care, and we need to make that easier by installing a dedicated wash rack in the barn. This well-equipped space will provide a safe and convenient place to wash and groom horses, with proper drainage and secure footing. It’s designed to make post-ride care and daily grooming more efficient while enhancing the overall functionality of the barn.
Tack, Helmets, and Boots
To ensure the safety and comfort of our horses and riders, we require high-quality tack, helmets, and boots. All tack must be pre-approved to guarantee proper fit and safety for our horses. To streamline the purchasing process, we recommend gift cards to reputable Western retailers like The Fort, Cavenders, and South Texas Tack. This approach allows us to select the specific gear needed for our riders while ensuring it meets our safety standards and enhances the overall riding experience.
